News:

April 2026

  • The Meeting House now has WiFi! Many thanks to Fiber Connect.

  • We have received grants from the Salomon Family Foundation, the Thun Family Grants Program, and the Monterey Cultural Council.

  • MMH and Monterey UCC are working toward a seamless transition of ownership in 2026.

  • Events are scheduled through the summer. Watch the calendar!

Who we are:

Monterey Meeting House, Inc. is a group of Monterey residents with diverse backgrounds but a shared commitment to seeing the Meeting House live on as a vibrant center of community activity.

Board of Directors: Mark Andrews, Don Barkin, Maggie Barkin, Wayne Burkhart, Sue Epstein (not pictured), Robert Hoogs, Paula McNay (not pictured), Hutch Neilson, Linda Neilson, Kyle Pierce, Morton Salomon, and Roger Tryon.

Our Mission is to

Acquire the Monterey Meeting House and preserve it as a historic landmark and a centerpiece of the Monterey Village.

Promote the community’s continued use of the Meeting House for cultural, educational, theatrical, and charitable activities and as a venue for community gatherings.

Adapt and use the building, with its large open spaces, for new activities that complement or expand programs offered by existing Monterey venues.

The History of Monterey’s Meeting House

This series of articles was originally written for the Monterey News (Oct 1996–May 1997) by Kathy Page Wasiuk and Delight Will Dodyk.  The authors trace the history of the Monterey Meeting House from 1750 onward.
